Question 1

1. Is electric last-mile logistics actually cheaper than diesel in India?

Accepted Answer

Yes, for the typical last-mile duty cycle. Electric vans and cargo three-wheelers run at roughly ₹0.50–₹2 per km versus ₹6–₹10 per km for diesel on comparable urban routes, a 60–80% reduction in the largest variable cost of a delivery operation.

Question 2

2. How many delivery vehicles should a fleet electrify to start?

Accepted Answer

Most operators start with a 10–15 vehicle pilot on their densest, shortest-stage routes for 60–90 days, track cost per km and cost per drop against the diesel baseline, then scale toward 50 or 100 vehicles once charging access and reporting are proven out.

Question 3

3. What government incentives support electric last-mile logistics in India?

Accepted Answer

The PM E-DRIVE scheme earmarks demand incentives for roughly 3.2 lakh electric three-wheelers used commercially — a category covering a large share of India's cargo and delivery vehicles — plus support for public charging infrastructure, running through 31 March 2026.

Question 4

4. How does software reduce SLA misses in electric delivery fleets?

Accepted Answer

Fleet software that surfaces real-time state-of-charge and flags vehicles needing a charge window before their next route lets dispatchers plan charging during natural dwell time — loading, breaks, depot returns — instead of vehicles running out of charge mid-route.
